Howard Mandel, professing

The History of the Blues Howard is graciously allowing me to sit in on his class. I will go to as many as possible considering how many concerts I already have booked. This first one was great. Paul Plimley from Vancouver is a virtuosic pianist as well as composer and improvisor. He was in town and came along too. Howard professed brilliantly and asked Paul to demonstrate the blues scales, chords and the 12-bar blues form and Paul also showed us the magic of the triplet 1/8 note rhythm. I look forward to learning more more more. The blues preceded my 1950ʼs Rhythm and Blues era about which I wrote my still- unfinished thesis.
