This is not my usual cup-of-tea, but it was presented by my friend, Sam Lopez and so I packed my earplugs and went. I have to admit I didn’t stay for the whole night but am glad I was there. I heard Jon Calzo who plays a Cort Slammer bass which he says threatens to put you in the slammer. It was loud but full of interesting nuance. Aaron Legrow played a great but short set of manly music with great rumbling. Sam was 3rd up and played with gusto using a big knife part of the time, instead of a pick (I think). I always love what he does but this set was four minutes long and I would have liked to hear more. Then I left, missing Bill Orcutt who was the headliner. Sorry about that but these ears needed relief.
