The first day and a half the weather held out so which meant swimming in her pool and sitting outside or in the sunroom. Then, you know, Irene. It was not so bad on Sunday morning but there was enough rain to postpone a trip to the Gardiner Museum. Later on it poured down with wind whipping the huge trees all around the property. However, this proved to be time to Relax, watch the hurricane news, read a book, take a nap and eat good food. Then the power went out -- no TV, no nothing. The upside was conversation, the old fashioned kind, face to face. The original plan was to return to NY on Monday but all trains were cancelled. Tuesday seems like a better idea. One hopes the trains will be running and streets navigable by then. Yes, they are running and I am on it now.
